Toronto top cop wants to keep G20 security cameras on city streets

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police Chief Bill Blair wants to triple the number of security cameras keeping an eye on city streets.

Blair is hoping to keep 52 of the 77 cameras the force bought for last summer’s G20 summit and install the extra electronic eyes in the entertainment district.

The Toronto Police Services board will try and get the federal government to pay for half of the cameras.

The National Post reported Toronto police would have to pay $90,000 for the extra cameras.
