Scam bilks investors of more than $2-million, three Ontario residents charged

MARKHAM, Ont. – York region police arrested three people in an alleged investment scam involving more than $2-million.

Police have alleged a company named Dominion Royal Credit Union had promised a guaranteed return of three, five and eight per cent per month on investments.

Investments were collected from more than 100 people between 2007 and 2009.

Police said the company was never a legitimate financial institution.

Trudy Huynh, 32, Sharon Scott, 39, and Mark Scott, 41, both of Markham, are charged with fraud and forgery offences and are due in court July 15.

Police would not comment on the relationship between the Scotts.
