Via Rail sets 72 hour strike deadline

MONTREAL – The union representing Via Rail workers is turning up the pressure on management at the bargaining table.
Following the Crown Corporation’s latest proposal, the Canadian Auto Workers has given a 72 hour strike notice Thursday, with a set strike deadline of 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Talks are expected to continue until the deadline.
Earlier this month, over 2000 workers, including ticket vendors and maintenance employees, voted in favour of job action to back contract demands.
