How to take advantage of a beautiful long weekend

The calendar may say April 2nd, but it feels more like June 21st outside, as we start the holiday weekend which is sure to present us with some record breaking temperatures.

The guaranteed high for Friday is 24 C, a temperature that would shatter the old record for this date. Factor in the humidity and it will feel more like 27.

It’s a great way to kick off the long weekend, and the warm air is expected right through Saturday, but 680News meteorologist Jill Taylor says we can expect a return to seasonal temperatures at the start of the work week, along with rain, so we should get out and enjoy the warmth now.

But how should we fully take advantage of this weather?

For those who observe Good Friday, the St. Francis of Assisi Church Parade will be held through the College and Bathurst area starting at 3 p.m., and wrapping up around 6 p.m.

The AGO is open, and is still home to the King Tut exhibit, which closes on April 18th. The ROM, Ontario Science Centre and Casa Loma are also open for business.

And at the Toronto Zoo, kids 12 and younger will have a chance to take part in the Easter “Egg” Stravaganza, which runs right through the entire weekend to Monday.

Some golf courses are opening their doors this weekend, which may indeed be the best way to get out there and enjoy the sunshine.
