Toronto Humane Society shelter resumes operations on April 12

TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto Humane Society claims to have reached a deal to resume operations of the River Street shelter.

THS management said they’ll be back in charge as of April 12, and they’ll first focus on six weeks of retraining of staff.

The deal was approved Thursday by an Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Under the terms of the deal, the THS will first complete the removal of the remaining 200-plus cats, dogs and small domestic animals at the shelter.

Most of the animals will be adopted out or boarded at other locations.
