Two newest members of Ontario legislature take their seats in chamber

TORONTO, Ont. – The two newest members of the Ontario legislature have taken their seats at Queen’s Park.

Liberal Bob Chiarelli was escorted in to the chamber by Premier Dalton McGuinty and government house leader Monique Smith as Chiarelli’s partner Randi and his daughters looked on from the public
gallery.

Conservative Steven Clark was accompanied by Opposition Leader Tim Hudak as he took his seat, with his wife and family members looking on.

Both were the victors of two March 4 byelections in eastern Ontario.

Chiarelli, a 68-year-old father of six, won in Ottawa West-Nepean, a riding he represented from 1987 to 1997 before his two terms as Ottawa mayor.

Former Brockville mayor Clark, 49, easily hung on to the seat of Leeds-Grenville that the party’s held for nearly three decades.
